The use of the website https://lmy.de is subject to the following terms of use. By using the URL shortening service, users agree to these terms. The service offers both free and paid services (Pro and Enterprise accounts).
§ 2 Service Offer and Liability for Content
The service https://lmy.de allows for the shortening and management of URLs.
The provider merely provides the technical platform. Users are solely responsible for the content of the shortened target URLs.
As a service provider, we are responsible for our own content on these pages under the general laws. The statutory liability privileges apply to third-party information transmitted or stored by users, in particular Articles 4 to 8 of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act) in conjunction with Section 7 DDG. There is no general obligation to monitor third-party information or actively investigate circumstances indicating illegal activity.
As soon as we become aware of specific legal violations, we will remove the corresponding content immediately.
The provider's liability for damages resulting from the use of shortened links – particularly in the case of harmful or fraudulent target pages – is based on the following principles: In cases of intent and gross negligence, the provider is fully liable. In cases of slight negligence violating a significant contractual obligation (cardinal obligation), liability is limited to the foreseeable, typical contractual damage. Otherwise, liability for slight negligent breaches of duty is excluded.
Note on the availability of free links: Short links created under the free account will be automatically deactivated after 60 days without access and will no longer be reachable thereafter. For permanent availability, especially when used in printed media, QR codes, or long-term campaigns, a paid account (Professional or Enterprise) is required. The provider does not guarantee the permanent accessibility of links created in the free account.
§ 3 Security and Link Verification
To ensure security, generated links are regularly checked automatically using the VirusTotal service (Chronicle/Google). The affected URLs are transmitted to VirusTotal; further information can be found in the privacy policy. Additionally, the provider reserves the right to manually review content.
If a link is identified as harmful, it may be permanently deleted without prior notice. Users have no right to notification or restoration of deleted content.
Suspicious links can be reported at any time via https://lmy.de/report. Reported links will be checked within 48 hours and removed if a violation is confirmed.
§ 4 Advertising and Financing
This website is financed through the display of advertisements, particularly via Google AdSense. Third-party providers may use cookies and tracking technologies to display user-related ads.

§ 5 User Obligations
Users are obliged not to misuse the service. The following is particularly prohibited:
- shortening links to illegal, extremist, or pornographic content
- shortening URLs that contain viruses, malware, or other harmful software
- linking to offensive, discriminatory, or violent content
In case of violations, the provider reserves the right to delete corresponding content, block user accounts, and possibly initiate legal action.
§ 6 Changes to the Terms of Use
The provider reserves the right to adjust these terms of use with effect for the future, as far as this is necessary to adapt to changed legal or technical framework conditions and the user is not unreasonably disadvantaged.
Users will be informed of significant changes at least 14 days before they take effect by publication on the website, and for registered users additionally in text form (e.g., via email). If the user does not object to the changes within this period, they are considered accepted; this consequence will be specifically pointed out in the notification. In the case of a timely objection, the contract continues under the previous conditions; in this case, the provider has a special right of termination at the next possible date.
§ 7 Final Provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies.
Should individual provisions of these terms of use be wholly or partially ineffective, the effectiveness of the remaining regulations shall remain unaffected.
