Fuel cost calculator: trip cost and consumption

The lmy.de fuel cost calculator works out the fuel cost of a trip from distance, consumption and price – including the return leg and splitting between passengers.

Before setting off you rarely know what a trip costs. With distance, consumption and the price at the pump you have a solid figure in seconds – also for car pools.

Frequently asked questions

How do I work out the fuel cost of a trip?

Cost = distance ÷ 100 × consumption × price. Example: 250 km at 7.5 l/100 km and 1.75 per litre = 2.5 × 7.5 × 1.75 = 32.81.

How do I split the cost between passengers?

Divide the total by the number of people including the driver. With four people and 32.81 each pays about 8.20.

Why does my consumption differ from the official figure?

The official figure comes from a test bench. In everyday driving, cold starts, air conditioning, load, city traffic and motorway speed add to it. Two to three litres more is normal.
